Not sure if it is aluminum or another light metal, but they are study, and have a nice, glaze finish over the metal that looks like it should stand up to the elements well. I searched the web and Vonnic's website and wasn't able to determine what material to expect for the body of these cameras so wanted to post that info for anyone else who might have the same concerns. These are NOT plastic cameras.I purchased several of these (Vonnic C133G) cameras a couple days ago to fill and overlap some gaps between my existing ADT perimeter cameras on a commercial property. I was looking for a camera that had as wide of a viewing area as possible, with at least 540 TVL and as long a distance IR low light capability as possible. For me, "wide angle" followed by night distance were the most important features. Thanks for the very in depth first review by the way). I'm certainly glad that I took the plunge with this one. This baby will work for so many applications. With it's variable focus lens, it will go from a very wide angle (fish eye) view at about 110 degrees, to about a 4X optical zoom (narrow view)at about 20 degrees. The night vision range is very decent. It will reach out quite well and lights up the area very good. I doubt you would be able to make out a face at night over 40 feet, but it is still quite good and blows away all of my other cameras. It puts out so much IR light that my other cheaper cameras benefit from the overflow of light. I won't need to buy an IR illuminator after all.The camera is well built with an aluminum housing.
