I was a bit skeptical about it, because of its low price. Believe me I searched a lot of brands. I even downloaded their manuals to read every single specification. Well, at the end of all this research. I decided to buy this one.Now that it is already installed on my video room. I'm pretty impressed by the quality and the crystal clear image. You have to have your room almost dark, to really appreciate its great image. My screen is over 165" diagonal. I have a 52" plasma, 42" lcd and 72" HD tvprojector. Now these ones I won't be using as much as my 165" plus screen with its HD resolution. I'm watching 720p and 1080p HD movies. This you have to see it to believe it. My brother has a view sonic projector. He paid for that one around 900 dollars. I paid for mine not even close to 600 dollars. I am also a tech snob and tend to find flaws in things that others don't notice. I used the projector for 4 hours last night - watching movies to test it. The Acer X1230PS produced bright, crisp, color-accurate (matched colors on laptop perfectly), images with no noticeable distortion. The image was perfectly rectangular after manually adjusting the keystone (auto keystone is always a little off). I like the image to perfectly fill my screen and it did. The projector is whisper quiet and didn't seem to get hot at all after 4 hours of use in a 70 degree room. Amazing! It's also a bit smaller and lighter than previous models. The other thing this projector does very well is produce dark colors - the blacks were very dark, giving a very high quality rich image with bright and dark on the same screen. I purchased two current model, short-throw, Viewsonic projectors. Both had lower image quality than I was expecting. Then I noticed that this projector shares many of the same components of the Viewsonic projector. I ordered it, and sure enough it looks exactly the same. But the insides are different. I don't know what Acer is doing with the light engine, but immediately I could see a difference. The colors were accurate and vivd and to my utter amazement this low end model has auto keystone correction. I didn't see that feature listed anywhere! The other two projectors went back. This one was not only cheaper but way better! |
